Cross Country 914 Tour???
What would be needed if we wanted to start a 914 tour that ran from the West Coast to the East Coast, or where the West Coast cars were to meet up with the East Coast cars somewhere in between? Am I dreaming, or could this be done if we had enough support from Sponsors? What would the participation figures need to be like? Hmmm...

Sounds like a fun idea. Some of the things that would be needed would probably be a lot of patience with the owners involved. Helping each other out if something happens to our neighbors beloved 14 would be necessary. Perhaps, we could try to get people that are in cities along the way that couldn't participate for some reason to help us and be a contact for us. Maybe even so far as a place to stay if they were really nice.
Sponsorship seems kind of out of the question, but I don't know. People would also need to bring TOOLS and SPARE PARTS!!! and a lot of money lol...our cars do get expensive. Just some thoughts. Not sure about a meeting place, but this seems like the best route so people don't have to drive all of the way to meet others on the opposite coast. Anyways, just ideas to kick around, Paul |

I love the 9-14-00 Idea! If this idea continues lets meet some place warm!! Planning a route would depend on a location. Maybe a big race somewhere. Lets start checking race schedules. Pelican can ship parts faster than a 914 can break them. With a few good repair shops as host sponsors along the way, this could work. Hotels are always looking for a new way to market. It should be easy to get discount lodging. I bet we could even get some of the specialty car T.V. shows to take an interest. Okey, picture this, we get a computer company,(like IBM or somebody) to provide laptops, and web cams. Then we get a internet provider, and cell phone company involved. We could do a live web page coming in all directions to the destination site via cellular modem. This could actually pay the way. What do you think? Is this crazy? Okey, I've got it! Add a charity and get sponsors to donate so much a mile!

Well? What do you think? Can this kind of thing be put together by the magic month and day? The idea is so huge. Which of you teeners works for a big computer retailer? I only suggested IBM because they have a new woman CEO That is going shake things up a little. A couple of dozen e-mails and who knows. How can I politely say she's hansome and not sound sexist? Sorry she is. Hey Jim, In my experience Cellular One is a very forward thinking company. My sister inlaw use to work for them locally. Who do we contact? We need a charity, and a destination on the right month and date, and we need to conduct a poll to see who's up for it. Randy, You've got the mailing list, what do you say?
