Smile rear spring replacement

Does anyone know the size of the nut that holds the rear shock on the trailing arm (bottom end)?

=-)

Plus, I can't even get the top loose...any suggestions? It's got thatnut screwed down with the top having a little flange to grip onto with something but I'm not sure what I should use. Thought about vise grips but that seems like it might be a bad idea.

Thanks for the help,

The Mikester

Whoops, looks like 18 is the bolt size.
I just looked at mine--this is the bolt with the flat oval head? A 27mm socket seems to fit that nut, as does 1-1/16''.

Porsche Crest

Replaced them tonight with a buddy and all went well.

Springs scare the hell out of me.

ALWAYS USE A SPRING COMPRESSOR.

Good picture Mike, you look like you had some fun. Is it all back together now? Was it worth the trouble you went to? I still have the entire rear suspension off my Chalon. Just been too lazy, sick, or busy with other things to get it back together.
