20ltr problem

I was driving a 20ltr 914 today all running. I then was doing about 60mph and changed up into 5th and the motor starts missing and sound abit knocky not a bottom end knock more like a rocker sound? any idears what has happened.

Where's it coming from? Dig out a length of vacuum hose or a mechanic's stethoscope to isolate where it is coming from.

Pop off a valve cover and look at the rocker arms while you rotate the engine over by hand. Is there anything odd looking about them or the valve tips or...?

i did i compression test on 3 & 4. no 4 was running at 6bar and no 3 was running just under 5 bar. is there and problem with rocker arms push rods adjusters?

Pre-ignition/detonation? Low octane? Bad gas? Under a load only? Only when cold, or only when warmed up? Can you duplicate the problem by goosing it by hand, from the engine compartment?
How's your cylinder head temp when this is happening? A clogged fuel filter may give you those symptoms as well - ask my and my cylinder head how we know

All done the the rocker shaft on no 4 came loose no worrys bolted back motor running well. Thanks for the help.
