I see nothing wrong with asking questions about data that ANYONE posts to this site, my data included. The problem here is that people here don't want to talk about the data, they want to talk about the people. In response to questions about data, I often see responses to the effect that you can't ask questions unless you have the equivalent experience to the person you're asking.
Well, guess what? That means nobody can ask anyone else any questions on this board, because nobody has the equivalent experience of anyone else here. Why don't we get back to addressing questions about the data instead of going at the people involved? I would strongly suggest to the people involved in this discussion that they keep their personalities out of the discussion and stick to the facts. Digging for facts can be a difficult process. When I started asking questions about the D-Jet FI system five years ago, I challenged a lot of the accepted knowledge on the system, and was often rebutted with "'nuff said", "...been working on them for 20 years and that's the way it is", and "nobody knows and nobody ever will know". I ignored this stuff and kept digging until myself and my collaborators were able to completely reverse-engineer the system and predict the system behavior with accuracy. Many people benefited from this work. The same can be true of other systems on our cars, if we're willing to strip away the mysticism about how they work. I think learning more about engine design, materials, coatings, etc., without being personally attacked every time a difficult question is asked, will benefit us more than throwing people off of forums and locking out threads any time friction develops. |

Thanks Brad, thats what i started to write last night, but figured i had said enough. I think this is the lowest i've ever seen anyone go on this board todate. One positive thing though, you guys who are posting personal stuff about Alfred, are the ones with the personal vendeta... not him.
And, if you go down to your local politician's office, you could get a job dugging up pointless crap to smeer the competition. Just think, one day you could be wroking for morons like Kerry and Bush, and all your practice would have been here, on the pelican bbs. Jason, thanks for the pics... lookie what i made...
