Post Engine Value?

Hi all, I am going to look at an 2.0 engine core on sat and want to know what a fair value is.

I am planning on following an upcoming grassroots motorsports article on building up a stock 2.0 to about 110 HP. I will be doing what work I can myself on the engine. This will be replacing my current stock 1.7

The guy wants $550.00 for the following:
engine case with crank, cam, rods etc.. (not
been split.) and a set of heads (No P&C's). is this a good price?

He also has most of a complete Stock D-jet setup, what would be a fair price for a complete setup?

I have read that my '73 1.7 brain is the same as or works for the 2.0, am I correct? will my 1.7 wiring harness work or no?

Any other tips or thoughts?

Thanks

-Brent

Cool

Sounds a liitle on the high side...

From your description sonds like the motor
is in pieces. There are a few 2.0 in the
classifieds on this site check them out.

I have one that is complete with FI and
Brain... asking $475 I am on the Eastcoast
so shipping would be an issue. But it appears
someothers are closer to you.

Check out the classified ads here and on Rennlist.com

The 73 1.7L FI harness (EA/EB code engine) is different than the 2.0L (GA code) harness. I have both harnesses but haven't tried to see if they are interchangeable on my 74 2.0 GA engine.

I've heard rumors that the 1.7 harness will work for the 2.0 in a pinch, but in examining them only, I am concerned that the cold start valve and air temp sensor hook-ups are in the wrong place. It looks to be a very tight stretch of the harness if it would work at all. Both harnesses have a 5 pole TPS connection though.

If you try the swap, let us know if it works. If you have trouble, let me know, I might be able to help out.

Forgot to post earlier.

The GC code engines and harnesses are even more different than the GA code harnesses.

There are actually 3 different 2.0L FI harnesses:

73-74 GA code
75-76 GC code (with speed limiter)
75-76 GC code (no speed limiter)

Hello

The brown 022 brain will work on the 2,0 but needs a special temperatursensor. The later 039 brains are better anyhow.

Wireloom is abit different due to change from intake temperaturesensor and Throttle switch. You can redesign the 1,7 to fit the 2,0.

Well most parts are worthless except the 2,0 heads just look if the have no cracks beetween sparkplug and valveseat ( needs welding then ). The block is as every 70 HP Bus block even similar cam.

Silly quest is why did he moved the engine out and salvaged P&C only ? Bad bearings ?

Grüsse
