Dash removal

I need to pull the dash out of my 74 914. I cannot find any info on how to do it. Can anyone help?

If the 914club site were up, I'd point you there. There's a comprehensive article with photos.

Basically, there are several nuts (probably nylon) under the top dash cover holding it to the metal dash section. Remove the gauges (they just pull out), and you'll see two of them. There's one at each end of the dash, and one more above the radio. Most of them are very hard to reach.

If you have to remove the whole metal dash, it's bolted to the car up under the scuttle (go in through the front trunk, and the base of the windshield). Again, hard to see and hard to reach bolts.

I believe I've posted the photos on this BBS as well. A search on "dash pad" might turn something up.

I can re-post the pics if necessary.

Hey zoom, here's a link to my website that describes the removal of my dash top. If you want to see the pictures enlarged, just click on them. Hope this helps.
