Well have a few questions. Im still collecting info on the future car. I had a 83SC and the carpet seems plush as the tweed style 914 doesnt. Is there a kit that is more hairy and not like a weeve pattern? Any websites to view this or someone have a pic of it installed?
Door panels - ive seen some of the cars with almost a rs style lightweight door panel. Does anyone know where to get and also do any of you have pics of the normal one vs the lightweight one? 911 5 gauge dash in the 914. Ive seen a few website with they supposively had them but couldnt find anything. How hard is this to do? Much modifications or just bolt in but needs to be covered in leather? Any pics of this setup also? Rollcage - where can i see pics of one of them installed, anyone have one so the roof is funtional? Is there a member that goes across the back of the seat? I wanna take off the rar pad and center pad and just carpet the whole wall so i can ad an aftermarket seat like the corbeau carrera seat or the a4 or maybe like the momo rookie. With the roll cage will these fit with different seat rails? Thats it for now. Thanks guys for the help Danny |

Carpet: No idea. I think a few folks around here have gotten stuff from Perfect Fit (?? Original Fit??) and liked it, but I have no direct experience.
There are a few options. One is the 914-6 GT door panel. Good luck finding a pair of those. Good luck affording them if you find them! I think there were one or two aftermarket options that were pretty clean. There was also a door panel that tried to look like a 911 one. It only succeeded partway, I think. Finally, you can trace the door panel out onto posterboard or thin MDF, cut it out, and glue/staple on the mounting hardware and some vinyl. I've seen some of those that looked great, some that looked exceedingly cheesy. The five-gauge dash is the "Getty dash". Getty is gone, as far as I can tell, but someone else is still selling (and maybe making) them. I don't know who offhand--sorry. As I recall, it was a moderately-complex process to install it. You had to take out a good part of the dash. Rollcage--much as I dislike sending people to a competitor's website, check http://www.all914.com for roll cage pictures. There are a good number of designs out there. Some of them let you use the targa mounting latches, some are in the way. Most do not have a bar across the rear firewall. SCCA requires a "Petty bar" going diagonal from the main hoop to the floorpan in the passenger footwell, but those are often removeable. --DD ------------------ Pelican Parts 914 Tech Support A few pics of my car: http://www.pelicanparts.com/gallery/Dave_Darling |

You might want to find a place that sells fabrics and carpet (auto). Here in san Diego we have UFO (Upol. Fab. Outlet) and I bought black plush GM style for about $4.00 a yard. I cut the pieces and then sewed vinyl edging to finish it. I did it the same time I was doing the roll-cage install so the seats and such were all out. You can check it here on the PP site under how I did my race car. If you are going for a concours type install, then factory is the only way to go. I did remove the back pad and sound deadener and found a couple of holes behind the driver's seat that were a big surprise! I welded them up and then covered the inside with black carpet which doesn't look too bad. There are some picts of the cage too I think and also the Corbeau seat. I mounted the seat solid since I don't feel safe with the stock seat rails in a wheel to wheel race. Good luck.

Check out my car on the PP gallery - it has GT door panels that I make myself. The only thing I changed was to keep the factory interior door handles (wanted the locks). I did what DD said - traced the pattern on to a much thinner material. The upolstery part was a snap - just pay attention to how your stock doorpanels are done to get the upper area correct. The screws can be purchased anywhere, and the door pull is off of an old Fiat. I purchased mine from a local British car repair joint. Look closely at the 914-6 GT web page to correctly match the grain on the vinyl. You can pick that up at any good fabric store.
I have confused a few people with my "GT" style interior (gas guage moved to the radio hole, 911 temp/pressure guage, 911 steering wheel center, hand throttle, rubber matted floors and repro door panels). Now, about those seats... Someday. Scott Schroeder |

By the way Scott the door panels look very nice ![]() Kelly [This message has been edited by echocanyons (edited 07-23-2001).] [This message has been edited by echocanyons (edited 07-23-2001).] |

Scott-- You answered a question about my 74 2.0. PO had installed the 911 gauges in the dash, except he put the fuel gauge on the left side of the steering wheel. Does your fuel gauge have the low fuel light? I can't seem to find out which car mine came from. I need a replacement bulb for it. Do you have any direct pictures of the door panels? Did the hand throttle come from a /6?

I dont know if it is from a six or not. I didn't bother with the gas pedal linkage, I ran another cable to the engine compartment. It works great. I know for sure it is a factory part, as the way it fit into the shifter base was perfect - all the right holes and dimples. I do have better pics of the door panels, But not at the office. I will email you tonight - feel free to post them if you want. As far as the guage goes - mine does not have the light.
