The clips that are supposed to hold the chrome close to the windsheild are worthless on my '76. My trim decided it didn't want to ride with me anymore at interstate speed and the originals are in a not so usable state. Has anyone seen maybe a black seal instead of chrome pieces or maybe someone knows of a trick to get it to stay in place?

You have to pull the trim, windshield & seal in order to replace the clips. Not fun.
I had one of the trim pieces fly off my car on the 405 fwy at 70mph once...somehow luckily I saw it lifting off, and I caught it! (Top was off at the time.) In my case the clips were fine but the channel & clips were gunked up with dirt and leaves so the trim piece wasn't locking in very well. There is a way to replace the alloy trim with a larger black rubber seal, but I forget which vehicle it comes from -- possibly a CRX. I'm sure somebody here knows, as lots of guys have done that. ------------------ Chris C. 73 914 2.0 70 911E Targa campbell.chris@gte.net |

You could also try black rubber seals from Honda CRX. Supposely, it fits well. I wanted to till i fell on a good deal on a chrome trim.
