Take another look.
There is not all that much hot piping above the sheetmetal, and it was all covered in high temp insulation, as was the turbo. Very little was exposed. Temperatures above the engine were never what i would call extreme. At 7 psi boost, the engine never got hot, even with no aftermatket oil cooler, except for a few times in the hot Georgia summer (or so I have been told). Mark, what boost were you running when the oil temp got close to the red? I drove this car at three autocross', running it very hard (up to or past red line) and never saw the oil temp get into the red. ------------------ Gerald Gore II (Sam) 73 914 350 small block 80 911SC |
