Is CVU a good brand?
I have a '75 914 that I'm working on to get it back on the road. I made a list of needed parts and it includes used fuel injectors (purchased for $25 each and rebuilt for $26.50 each) and CV joints from PMB Performance for $89 each. On another website, I recently found CVU fuel injectors for $34.89 each and axle shafts (complete with two CV joints) for $62.21 each. Both of these items have a 7-year/70k mile limited manufacturer's warranty. If I get these parts instead of following the original plan, I'll save $298.02. Have any of you ever had any experience with parts from CVU? Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

maddeye-
I wish I did. I called racepages.com (one of the sites I've found that sells parts made by CVU), but they didn't have any website or contact information. I was just hoping that somebody in this forum had previously purchased anything made by CVU. The product description indicates that these are "remanufactured To OEM specifications". I've read that the going wisdom for fuel injectors is to skip over ANY rebuilt injectors, suck up the added expense, and buy Bosch; however, the low price and warranty make it tempting. As for the axles, the gamble on the lower-priced part seems a bit less of a risky proposition. |

New Injectors for a 1.8
I have a new set on Ebay right now starting bid at $99. Bought from Pelican for a project car not completed. bolted them onto the rails but never started the car. Includes the 2 rubber seals (extra to buy). I paid a BIG price for these...my loss
and someone's gain . Check it out. Bill 2 days left on the bid. |

But racepages.com is just one of those generic worlpac frontends. I'd be VERY careful with what they list for the 914. I just went through some of the "914 specific" products, such as: - Universal Phoenix USA Fender Flares - Universal Omix Radiator Thermostat - Universal Mr Gasket Radiator Hose - Delphi Fuel Pump - Universal TransDapt Engine Mount NONE of those parts actually fit a 914!!! Guys-
I appreciate the feedback. Andy's comment was right in line with what I suspected and Joey's project car sacrifice was definitely a great offer. Thanks again, guys. -Drew |
