Rebuilt Motor Timing

I've just completed the recommended 20 minute break-in run at 2000 RPM on my newly rebuilt 2.0 T4 and need to tweak the timing a bit. Is it okay to run the motor up to 3500 RPM to set the recommend 27 degrees BTDC this early in it's life?
