Distributer change ?

Presently running 2 Weber 36 dcnva carbs on the 1800 and German made 009 with Pertronics many say these have a better advance curve than the other 009's (Brazilian and chinese copy),however its seems a vacuum type will be better ?.
The Webers are fairly well "'dialed in" with good idle and power but a have a dead spot with feels more like ignition that fuel.
I still think its not running as it should ,I have a good vacuum one which I want to try ,the bosch number is 0 231 170 093 ?,research indicates it was used on a type 4.
Is there any set rule for vacuum pick-up off the webers, for example do I use 1 or 2 vacuum ports off one carb ?
Thanks in advance.

The distributors that had the vacuum pots were meant to retard the ignition for smog purposes, the advance side was just there. It is true that the 009 has crappy advance as it was initially made for "stationary" engines so advance was never an issue. Having said that, if the car is a track/auto-x/race car then total advance is what you are concerned about so keep RPMs high enough and the advance will not fall off. If it is a street car then the curve is important and there are some that are much better. In any case I would only worry about mechanical advance.

Your carb is off an VW Bus with fuel injection. I'm gonna guess that the advance curve wont work well with those carbs. Try to find an 050 distributor. Bosch no. 230 081 050.

So I'am guessing its off the later fuel injected motor as it has no vacuum retard or injector points plate (Vanagon perhaps) ???.

Thanks ,yes I know all that, thats why the change, kinda all I had @ the time, seems to be advancing to quick at the wrong time for the T4
I purchased sometime ago a collection of distributers on our countries best auction site ,won the best bid of $50 and got 10 good ones.
Have been thru them and found a few suitibles, have one set up with hot spark ready to fit will report back, cheers.
