Hooking up factory fog lights on a '75 914...

Hi. I'm trying to hook up the factory rectangular fog lights on my '75 914. The car didn't come with these originally, but I obtained a pair from another junked car. I also got a fog light switch, assuming I'd need it.

My fog lights are now installed, and I can see in the front trunk the factory wiring and connectors. However, I can't find the correct wires behind the dashboard to hook the switch up to.

According to my Haynes wiring diagram, a '74 shows fog lights, a relay and a dedicated switch (the switch I have, I assume). However, a '75 diagram shows only the lights and a relay, and NO dedicated switch. I can't determine how the relay is energized. Plus, for '75, they call the lights "auxiliary headlights" rather than fog lights.

Is it possible that the later, rectangular lights are powered from the headlight switch, and are designed to come on when the headlights are turned on?

Thanks in advance!

DJS: Look again and again, they are back there. Mine were rolled into a little ball and tucked out of the way right behind the mounting hole for the switch. I had my kneepad and steering column out when I did mine. Also, when you do get everything hooked, don't be stupid like me. After I got everything hooked up, I closed my eyes, gritted my teeth, and pulled the switch....nothing happened! No fog lights, no sparks, no blown fuses! Try as I might, I could get no power to the damn things! I slept on it for the night, and the next day started the reassembly of the steering column, SUPRISE! My bright lights were pulled on! Turned off the bright lights and everything worked fine. Find those wires, mount and hook up the switch, and put a test light on the front wires before you hook up those new fog lights. Also, print the current flow diagram off PP and read it carefully to ensure you have the correct wires...nothing worse than electrical problems that you cause yourself!!

Good luck.

I JUST did this and I can second Mark's comments. Unless someone cut them out (and there would be no reason to), they are there. Mine were laying on the metal dash bottom just behind the switch hole and I had to just swipe my hand across a couple of times to snag them. I took my knee pad off too.

Mark, I also stood in front of my car and swore when my fogs did not come on.... then I switched the brights off... They worked much better then
