Hasn't anybody made a good header system with a heatexchanger for the 914-4? I know make them for the 914-6. Just wondering how many of you out there would like to see someone make a good 914-4 header/heatexchanger?

On a stock 2.0 engine the top header design made 6 more HP and about 8 lb feet of torque over a set of SSI's with a Bursch.
Is it worth the R+D to make 6 more HP on the street car ? Is it worth the time and money for a race car to have heat ? I have thought long and hard about this. What we need is a NICE 6 header with heat that resembles the original instead of the hacked boxy looking crapola from B+B. B |

I would think there would be a market for heat boxes which you install yourself over the exhaust pipes.

Good idea, but.... they are spot welded on from the factory around the tubes so they dont leak.
They would probably end up rattling and cracking. B |

You mean they're not supposed to rattle? All of mine have been loose around the exhaust pipes, 4's and 6's. Some looser than others, usually accompanied by rust.
