I have a set of Empi 8 spokes that I'd really like to get rid of. They have almost new (less than 3K miles) 195/60-15 tires. They fit under stock fenders, which I think means that they are real Empis.
I'd like to get $250 - that is less than I paid for the tires, but trades and offers will be considered (I need a ~9 foot dinghie...). These are in the north end of Seattle. --Paul paulh@think-fast.net Pictures: wheels: ![]() on the car: ![]() |

The real EMPI 8-spokes can be identified by observing the following:
Two-piece construction EMPI logo cast into lug hole web Center cap attached by four screws on small bosses Valve stem points toward EMPI logo Wheels attached to hubs by studs, steel inserts, cap nuts I have a set on my 914 that I bought NEW in 1971 for a then brand new VW Superbeetle. I've just transferred them from car to car over the years. Thanks, Wayne (type47fan)

Hmmm....
Well I have heard a lot of varieties of what makes 'real' empi's. They meet some criteria, but not others. These have no markings (that I can find), and no bosses for the center caps. So I'll call them Empi-like (Empiish?) wheels, and like any piece of ~30 industrial art you should do your own research and form your own opinions. They are nice straight wheels that look really sharp on a 914, and you can have these for less than a set of rubber will cost you for those spare steelies you were thinking about.... --Paul Last edited by Paulh; 05-05-2004 at 04:17 PM.. |
