Looking for driveshaft pins
Hello,
Where the driveshafts meet up there are two bolts on either side... then in between in two spots there is a hole for another alignment pin of some sort. Mine do not have that pin and apparently they are not available anymore. The problem is I have grease coming from that open hole which makes for quite a mess. Any one have any of these pins or have an idea on how to plug the hole? Thx, Bryan

CV joint roll pins
They are 10mm roll pins. Check with an industrial hardware supply, or try McMaster Carr.
Or someone could try to dig them out of some CV's or stub axles where they often get stuck. Hard to get out without marring them up. You could also cut off a short length of a 10mm bolt and use that. Bruce |

Bruce, I was actually looking for your email.. too funny that you replied. How can use a bolt??? Are those holes threaded as well? The opening in my CV joint is an 8mm hole. The same location where the heads to the other bolts would be. This is where the grease is coming out of... right by the boot.
Any thoughts? Thx, Bryan

Thank you... ordered them.
Do you know if they install prior to putting the axle on or can you slide them in that hole once the axle has been installed. That hole is where the grease is coming from and getting all over my trans and exhaust... that stuff is nasty.

They install prior to you putting the CV Joint onto the transmission flange.

Jared, if they install prior to putting on the CV joint... what covers that hole on the back side of the axle itself closer to where the bolts would enter through and be tightened. There is still two holes that grease can come out of... or are the pins long enough and set in that hole?
Thanks for the help. Bryan

You should unbolt the CV's (using the CORRECT tri-square bit) and clean the theads for the bolts, and also the holes for the roll pins. Once clean, re-assemble the CV Joints to the flanges. Don't forget the gasket that goes between the joint and the flange. |

FYI, a 10mm bolt usually has a 8mm diameter shaft.
The roll pins are there to center the CV on the flange and you DO need them. |

I have an allen bolt... that is what is on the car. I will take a picture and post. It is a 550 Spyder with a 2.4 6 cylinder and a 901 side shifter... I am guessing out of a 914. Will update with a photo soon.
Thx, Bryan
