I am trying to decide if I want to leave them-semi polished or if I want to powder coat them. I already powder coated the sway bar and hardware.

The block is being sent out to be bored and nikasil coated. The pistons are going back to Wossner to be re-coated for the nikasil bores.

Banks, who does the Nikasil ... Millenium?

Best, John

Yes, I am sending it off to Millenium on the recommendation of Karl at Racers Edge. I picked up the Wossner S2 Turbo pistons through Karl.

I'm looking for suppliers for valves that can handle the heat of the turbo. I found some SS valves but I was hoping for sodium filled inconel exhaust valves.

I found a supplier who will make me what I need for a decent price per valve.
The problem is that they have a 100 piece minimum for custom orders. What am I going to do with 92 extra valves???

azbanks 02-12-2021 09:36 AM

A few minor adjustments and this is off to the waterjet.

The 944 is up on jackstands. I need the jackstands to drop the engine in the 914.

What to do, what to do?

Have custom stands built for the front of the 944.

Does anyone have the specs for pinion depth and pinion preload fro an AOD transmission out of a 1989 944 turbo?
I need the whole spec sheet if anyone has it.

The Pistons came back from Wossner 4 days ago.

Nice post, my car is very similar and also white. I found it much easier to replace the fog/driving lights with a plug in HID system and use them for driving instead of messing with the headlights

My plan is a one piece header panel. I want to get rid of the gaps/lines for the headlight openings.
None of my plans end up being the easy way.

My fuel rail and a few other things are anodized blue. Is it a bit overboard to order custom blue anodized nuts, washers, and bolts to match?

Buying/remodeling a new house, kids in college, etc have significantly delayed my progress on this. The engine rebuild will not be done for a while so I bought a stock replacement engine.
I've got to get it done in time to road trip to RSR.

azbanks 09-21-2023 11:51 PM

Progress.

Buying a used engine can be a crap shoot.
This engine showed up covered in oil and grime. The area that was under the bell housing is how most of the engine looked when I picked it up at the freight terminal.

I bought it from a reputable seller and he said it was a running engine so I will take his word for it. He never said it was a clean, running engine.:D
I am not disparaging the seller, he sent me exactly what we discussed. It's condition is fitting with the mileage it has.
Two extensive power washes and a lot of time with a brass brush and it looks half way presentable.

Going a bit overboard dressing it up. These were parts I was collecting/creating for the turbo engine I will be putting in it in the future.
The one thing that bums me out is that no one will see my uber-fancy bolts when the engine is in the car. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/sad2.gif

Now I have to get it all back together and I hope to have it in the car by end-of-day Saturday.

Doing that won't get rid of the headlight cover gaps. That has always been my plan, to create a one piece header panel that does not have any gaps ans just looks cleaner than the factory three piece header panel and light covers.
