^ i don't think he wants another VW. but that’s what i would choose if i had to buy another DD. However if i could afford it would go with the w8.

VW and Bimmer are the only cars that are "truly" European - well, at least for the kind of car you are looking for is what i mean. Just because Saab is owned by GM doesn't mean they have the same hold on them as say, Pontiac or Chevy. GM owns a good chunk of the world's car companies and you can’t let that bother you. I am not a fan of Chevy or any other American car company, but i almost guarantee you that Saab still manufactures their cars with equipment and staff that they had before the buyout. GM is pretty lenient with it's subsidiaries. Look at Fiat - and the companies it owns (ferrari, alfa, maserati, lancia, ect.) All under GM now, and hardly anyone knows about it.

get the Saab.

I have a 2001 SAAB 9-5 Wagon. It's a really good car. Before that I had a 1986 900 turbo. It's true that since GM bought SAAB, they have lost some of their SAABishnish. Take one for a test drive. I have driven several 9-3's as loaners. They're not as much fun as my old 900 turbo. I never had any reliabililty problems with my old one. Just like a lot of cars, if you don't take care of the preventative maintenance items you'll suffer. The new 9-3 has gotten really good reviews.
