Help!! Warm Start Up Problems!!
I have a 1978 924 with 38,000 miles that has difficulty starting when the engine is warm. It starts great when it's cold and when it's hot, but not when it's warm. During a warm start up, there will be a a strong gas smell and when the engine is cranked, it floods. Then it takes quite a few cranks to get it started and once it does, it seems like the fuel injectors are sputtering and the engine shakes for a few seconds. I've taken it to two places and neither has found the source of the problems. Both places have done pressure checks and have pulled the injectors. The system checks out fine. Everything is also fine in the fuel pump and the accumulator was replaced. It still has the problem. The fuse box was checked and everything is fine there. I'm scheduled to take it back to the Porsche specialist in town so he can check the control pressure valve, but if that's not it, I don't know where to go from there. Thanks in advance for any advice or experience with this type of problem.

My dad's 924 did the same thing. It ended up being the sensor plate adjustment for the air flow meter. I don't know if any one else noticed, but the Hayne's manual is wrong on the adjustment specs. Won't guarantee that this is it, but I hope it helps. Good luck! |
