Caliper bracket side ?
I’m sure the answer is no but have to ask so I can wrap up rear brakes on my ‘83. After rebuilding and painting calipers , I was assembling what I thought was drivers side. When I was setting the 20deg angle on piston I noticed the bleed screw on the cylinder was not in correct position. So I must have missed driver and pass sides. The cylinder is side specific and obvious so no problem there. But what about the brackets? The only reason I ask is I noticed that there is a casting mark and it’s different on each. A “4” as you can see on picture and a “5” on the other. Since it’s a single digit it I don’t think it’s a date code but I don’t know. Brackets appear same to me but does anyone know ?

Well ,to maybe help others who dissemble both sides for ease of painting or whatever , I found this .
While there does not appear to be a difference in the actual bracket despite the casting marks , the guide springs are driver/passenger specific according to OEM manual. Again this is for rear caliper on 1983 944. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
