85 1/2+ AC Heat Problems Sensei I need advice again
Hello again and merry well -- ah ya know
I have a 86 944NA just got the cluch sorted out and I'm getting to drive it for the first time (Kind of cool I must admit) but I'm being driven out of the cockpit by the heat that I can't shut off. now this poor car hasn't been loved by PO's of the past and I'm trying to recify that. I'm missing the knobs for the air direction and the Temp and the AC switch is missing. so 1. I followed the tube from beside the clock and found a small thing That I took apart it consisted of a small electric motor powering a fan to pull air past what I assume is a thermistor (sic) the motor was siezed and alot of crap was in the tube I cleaned it out and oiled the motor then put it back togher the fan now works but no Joy I'm still baking. Ok where do I go from here can I test the Thermistor ? anyone know how to jumper around the system to shut the heat off (nice to be able to turn it on again as the wife is kind of a cold body type) all replys gratefully accepted Matt |

Had the same problem on my 86. It's been awhile since Ive been under the dash so bare with me if I'm not to specific. Get a flashlight and lay down on the drivers side floor. Yes, facing up. Between the steering wheel and the console there should be a servo motor up in there with a metal rod attached to it. While your under there adjust the temp and it should move. Yours will probally be like mine. HANGING there. I beleive the rod goes from the motor to a door in the ductwork. Anyways the connecting clip is broken. Just a plastic clip. I got creative and just reattached it with a wire tie. Now I got the heat when I want it. Good luck.
