The Lug nuts on my 1988 944 are Aluminum and are silver in color (bare metal I guess), but I think they were painted black when new because I just bought 4 from a dealer and they only come in black now. So should I prime, then black final coat my "silver" ones? There appears to be a tiny bit of black paint left on my original ones.

The aluminum lug nuts are not painted, they are black anodized. Anodized aluminum has a higher corrosion resistance than painted aluminum. But black paint should work just fine. If you're concerned about originality, just buy new ones because duplicating the original finish would cost way more than replacing the nuts.
