taking the radiator out i broke the connection from the radiator to the expansion tank.
i had been told to leave the hose on the radiator because the nipple is very fragile but getting the hose/clamps to the expansion tank free and clear was difficult. the threads are metric 12mmx1.75 pipethread and i'm wondering if anyone has ever tried a brass fitting with o'ring/sealing ring that worked and if it did, where you got it. even metal into plastic can be a little more than figer tight which should compress the sealing mecanism the same as the plastic fitting. brass would not be as fragile.

You can get a fitting from an auto part store, a fuel fitting will work. Also get a tap of the same tread If you are carefull I will work Best of luck to you ( p.s.) I ment to mention use a brass fitting w/ tapered pipe treads. And use teflon tape on it after you tread the radiator

Or you can get the part from a dealer - that plastic nipple fitting is about $10 or so.

the plastic nipple is very fragile as i found out loosening the clamp.
finding a brass metric pipethread and someway to seal it o'ring/gasket hasn't worked where i live and i was hoping someone had a source. i tried napa, car quest, an industrial service outfit and no one had the 12mmx1.75mm pipethread/nipple fitting and i don't want to retap the hole and maybe kill the radiator. thanks for the input.

For what it's worth, if you go to a machine shop, they could perhaps make you the fitting you are looking for, although it would probably cost you as much as the dealership part, but at least yours would be metal =)

One of the small disadvantages of living on a small island in the middle of the Pacific. Hard to find correct sized hardware for european cars. I have had the same kind of problems here on Oahu.

$3 for the nipple -- white plastic possibly kynar. $9 for the cheezey o-ring gasket/seal thingy. OR 28 cents for an o-ring from Home Depot. Still have to use the dealer nipple as it has the right threads the right length.
