Is it true that when a CV joint fails, they can be flipped to the other side and reused. My evidence, read Tentsters's post: http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/Forum5/HTML/000682.html
Can I do this? My 4 year old CVs have begun clicking again. Since I'm a college frat boy, I'd rather spend money on beer insted of new axles. Any help is greatly appreciated. ------------------ 83 944 |

Hey man a couple of things to remember when you do the switch!
1) Be sure that the bearings do not fall out while repacking! 2) Clean the bolt holes really good with carb cleaner before re-installation! Oh yea! Check your tightness a few days afterward! Good luck! Brock 86 951 Zermot/Burgundy |

Clean the bolts too! The bolts can loosen. I believe the torque on the bolts is 35 foot pounds. Recheck after you have driven the car awhile.
I had one come off a year or so ago. |

also your brake calipers, when dirty can make a clicking sound. I thought one of my cv joints was bad, but i took it to the car wash and sprayed the calipers clean and the noise was gone.

i had a clicking sound that i believed was coming from a bad driver's side cv. it turned out to be dry wheel bearings in front! duh.
