Smile A story of,...No Boost Control!

Well after just getting my 931 back from the shop (Engine rebuild $3.5 K) I knowdenced that the car was amazingly quick. I almost lost control of the car 3 times when the turbo kicked in during turns!

So I take a look at the engine, and the line controling the wastegate was still removed. So I had been getting all the boost the turbo would kick out! It was insane (probebly a full 2 second decrease in 0-60; and a 60 to 80 mph time dropped dramaticly)... and i couldn't even hear any loud pinging either.

By the way - I screwed back in the boost control line (im not an idiot)

WOW,....sounds like you need a manual boost controller, so you can tap into some of that extra power......

It's a good thing you caught that before any damage. A boost controller is a good thing you can either perserve the engine during break-in or get max. potential. I always lower boost when my wife wants to drive, would hate for her to feel bad if something happened. Good luck w/ new engine. Scott.

Hey Raven!

I just installed waterinjection and boost level control.
I have increased boost from ~0.75 to 1 bar. (Will go to 1.1)
The car feels GREAT!!!!!!!!
0-60 Shore I notice some difference, but the real difference comes after 70. WOW

Hopefully i will get the boost up to 11 psi (I have the 7.5:1 heads, and I am not going to intercool),...but going from .45 bar to infinate boost was great.

I have to say though, its hard trying to break it in since there is nil' torque with the 7.5:1 heads in the pre-boost rpms...to get anywhere in traffic im pretty much forced to get up to 4,500-5,000 rpm range before shifting.

Garage
Just keep it under 6 for a few hundred miles and the life of the engine will be fine with good care!
