fuchs vs cookie cutters
aside the obvious whats the difference...the guy who sold me my 944 had a set of fuchs...but i have the cookie cutters on my car which i like better...but i hear conflicting reports on which are better...i was told the cookie cutters were lighter in weight maybe i got the 2 mixed up...so if u had ur choice which would u pick and why...i can swap for the fuchs if need be...but id like to know which is better because i wanna restore and have em custom powder coated

Fuchs are stronger, lighter, and come in 16" versions as well in varying widths and fittiment options. Fuchs are much more desirable for most Porsche guys. Fuchs were an extra-cost option on the cars from (US) 83-86. 16" 951 Fuchs are hard to come by and worth a lot more $$, to 944 guys and 911 guys alike, as they allow the fittiment of larger brakes (up to 928S4 calipers can be crammed behind them).
Some club racers and auto-crossers that run in stock classes with stock brakes like the cookies for their cheapness and availability.

I would say that straight-up Fuchs would beat cookie cutters, but if Phonedials teamed up with the cutters-it would be close, unless the dish wheels helped out.--then I would have to say Fuchs win.
Seriously chi-town--as the others said, if you have a choice go with the Fuchs as they are the more valuable of the 2. Just check the classifieds and compare CC prices and Fuchs prices.

I have an extra set of fuchs ill sell you. They are in excellent shape.
set of 15's 15x7(2) and 15x8 (2) with new tires.

My vote is for Fuchs. If you like Cookie Cutters better, it is because your car came with them and you are loyal. I *had* Cookies on my car but I upgraded to the forged Fuchs. They look awesome, especially the deep dish 8" wide ones.

I like the fuchs, particularly the black center version. I did see some awesome aftermarket chromed wheels in some photo's on rennlist that looked real nice. I have also seen more modern turbo twist wheels on the 944 that look good too, I don't know whether they can bolt right on a 944 or not.

I personally like the LOOK of the cookies better, but I dumped mine in a parts swap and put on phone dials. I think those actually look the best of the three. Performance / function-wise I think the Fuchs win, then phones, then the cookies though (since they're only 15" and limited to 7" width).

So, if Cookie Cutters came in 16's or 17's they would be more popular for looks, not nescisarilly(sp) weight ???

RATS! the value of my car just went up... then back down $1000.
(I have CC's... if I could have convinced someone they were Fuchs...) Anyway, I saw some VERY wide Cookies at the German autofest in Ventura two years ago... posably nine or ten inches, I didn't stop to look at them because I was afraid I would buy them. Maybe they were custom made? Did 911's come with cookies?

16 x 7 951 Turbo Fuchs up front
16 x 9 911 Fuchs on the rear, installed the Eibach HD springs in the front which lowered the front end about an 1"-1 1/2" Oh,yeah black centers...love the look...saw it on a 951 a few years ago then I was hooked...
