Drive Train Noise....
I just finished replacing the clutch on my 85.5 944 (after way to long). I used the pelican superclutch pack so all major wear parts have been replaced. I also installed a Fidanza Flywheel, a Lindsey Racing solid transmission mount, and rebuild drive axles/CVs. So...I have noticed substantial "gear" noise coming from the transmission/drive train. I think this is because I installed the lightweight flywheel and solid trans mount, but I figured I would ask you guys before I ruined something in the drive train.

Solid transmission mounts. Why do you think they were rubber?

Oh I don't mind the noise at all...in fact I think its rather cool...I just wanted to make sure my transaxle/torque tube wasn't going to fall out :-p BTW the solid mount may convey more noise, but it makes shifting a lot smoother and more precise.

Fixing the worn pin in the shift lever helps more than mounts. Then when you put the short shift on it and start jamming the syncros you can learn to repair the trans.
