HAHAAHAH... First do a search on performance mods for a NA 944. Second its gonna cust money if you want any kind of big HP gaing in your 944. Third FR-WILKS POWER PROM 2 ROCKS and is the only chip I would buy. Fourth with all those basic mods you listed above you will only see MAYBE about 10-20hp at the wheels.

If I where you here is the list
1. FR-wilk chip
2.Headers and performance exhaust
3. CAM

Im sure those 3 things will totaly change the attitude of your 944 and make it more fun and a little more powerful

Judging by the syntax (and a link from Rennlist), I'm guessing this is guido944 who was just banned for his idiocy from the other board.

Hey Gujido buddy is that you? Your brother, sarducchi, told me about some killer Itailian tires that they used on the pope mobile. I bet they would make your 944 go real fast. They are all purpose tires, dago through rain, dago through snow, dago through mud and when dago flat dago wop wop wop....

I say lets be easy with Alina as the '86 is not the same year car that Mossimo was posting about. "Hi there own 2 porsche RoW 944 na 1987 1988 and i have 325is 1994 bmw"

Just a thought, I did find the speech pattern quite amusing though.

Alina,

The things that you have mentioned can make a difference in the performance in a 944.

- Fr. Wilk chip (will help change your engine fuel mapping)
- headers (can free up some un-needed backpressure)
- air intake and filter cone (stock seems to be best unless you are willing to experiment)
- exhaust (matched w/headers and flow)
- msd electric system (I am not familiar with it)
- light weight pulleys (speeds up rotational speed of engine that's it!)

All of above changes CAN make for some overall improvement. Porsche engineered the engine to drive/sell as is. That was not an easy thing to do in the 80's w/out a lot of todays technology.

Good luck,

Michael

Put a Wilks chip in, the rest of the stuff makes a only a slight difference.
The first thing to do, apart from the timing belt, water pump, front seals, engine mounts, maintenance service and brake fluid change is the suspension and tires.

If money doesn't matter, which would be the first time ever, what sort of budget for modifcations do you have? With that, posters on here can advise.

Stock exhaust just as well as anything else.

It would help if your location was given as money varies throughout the world.

if money doesn't matter, why are you trying to build up an N/A?
if money doesn't matter, get a turbo, get a supercharger, blah blah blah

honestly, chip it if you want, and take out some weight, ie: spare tire, rear seat, upper part, etc.

So, has the timing belt and all the maintenance stuff been done?
The budget you have would cover everything to get the car up to date service wise.

The first thing to do would be front of engine reseal, and timing and bbalance shaft belts. Then, Wilks chip, and maybe his MAF conversion once it's ready. Untill those are done the other engine mods will just about useless. At most they would change the sound of the engine, especially a cone filter. I am actually getting rid of a cone that a PO had installed, and going back to the factory intake. Suspension and tires would be my next move. If you want to get silly with it, do a search for "homemade supercharger", there is a member working on a SC kit for our cars.

Thanx Alina. Those are some older pics, My car is all apart in my garage waiting till I can throw more money at it. I have never had the car dyno tested so I am unsure of what HP its making. As for the intake its a MAF conversion jit that Huntley Racing was making but they went out of business long ago. You should look into FR-WILKS MAF conversion kit aka HMF5 http://frwilk.com/944dme/
