scratch guards.

On my 90 S2 the scratch guards that go behind the tires and are on the back in front of each back tire are starting to show there age and I want to replace them..I have talked to a guy before and he said the best way is to get a hair dryer and heat them up and peel them off. My question is are these things clear or are they painted to match the car at the factory? I am thinking about taking it to a good reputable body shop and let them do it. Is it that big of a job?

Clear

It is an EASY project, just a long, monotonous pain in the azz

Heat gun, used judiciously.

A hair dryer will take you a very, very long time.

You can make your own with 3M Scotchcal, and they also have a cleaning solution. Unfortunately cannot buy it privately over here. Just do a search under Scotchal and you will find a load of information on this forum that relates to removal, application and what is available.
