Stone Guards..easy to remove?

Newbie question here..how hard is it to remove the clear stone guards..mine are cracked and yellowed, i was going to rip them off an replace them but then thought I better consult the experts on here...do they tear? do they leave residue?

My son and I are in the process of touch up paint, claying, polishing, etc etc and these stone guards look pretty bad.would like to just remove and replace them.

thanks

Use a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the guards and adhesive, then a plastic scraper to remove the guards.

Use 3M adhesive remover to, um, er, remove the adhesive.

The hair dryer or heat gun work really well, just watch the temperature. I also used a plastic scraper and just took my time. Bug and tar remover worked well also. Just stay away from using a putty knife! Scapes the paint...

I am in the process of doing this to an alpine white car. I used a heat gun to take off the top portion and the 3m adhesive remover to get off the rest. I've been using a plastic putty knife (Which melts if heated too long and haven't had an paint issues. I would be careful how long you let the adhesive remover sit on the textured part of the paint and scrap away from it as you can peel it up as well.

Mine is also Alpine White and I am pleased with my results. I chose NOT to put on new guards, save money and didn't feel it was really needed.

I've been running without guards for 2 years with no issues. The car looks much better without them.
