Center console options

I need to replace the center console lid, which is torn to hell. Are there any other options to just replacing the lid and then having to replace the hidge every 3 months?

Huh? I have had my car for 5 years and never had to replace any hinge or anything on my center console. Why do you think the hinge will break again?

i'm in the same boat as cj - and i've leaned on it to reach into the back... abused the hell out of it, and it's still just as attached as the day i bought it.

an alternative, if you're looking for one, pops up on ebay occasionally. you take the top door off, and attach this instead.. in the top side there are cubby holes and a cup holder.

when I got my car the hinge was broken and I replaced it. I don't even use the center console on the fear of it breaking and it's still partially cracked.

I never had one, so I just put a nice piece of carpet there. I like that it is lower like this anyway, more natural position for my arm to be at the proper level to shift.

The PO of my car replaced the hinge before I bought the car and it only lasted a little over a year. It's crap. I would love to have a metal hinge but I've been too busy to try to fab something up (and have had other, more serious car issues requiring attention.)

Just use a metal piano hinge when the plastic one breaks. Heck I have seen 1 with a cabinet hinge.

I had to put a new one on mine when I got it. I thought about the piano hindge, but decided for the $20.00 every now and then when it breaks. I'll just replace it when it needs it.
