Progress Report

Pulled the engine out today. Read the many posts on engine removal top/bottom. I didn't have the clearance under the car so went out the top. Didn't have any problems. Removed the timing belt cover and found a broken bolt (bottom picture). Hoping to start putting some pieces back together this week. When unplugging the engine controller I found the three relays pictured below. Can anyone help me with their function. One is missing a cover, so I'm planning to replace it. I'm guessing wedging them behind the hood release cable wasn't the factory installation method.
