Adjust timing?
If the timing belt was of by one or two teeth would the car run lousy, like it was misfiring or running hard? Normally you could turn the distributor and adjust the timing but since these cars don't have that how do you adjust the timing?
Reason asked is I just replace the timing and balance belts on mine and it runs lousy. Ive got the belt placed correctly, unless the timing belt is off by a tooth or so.

Timing can not be adjusted its controled by the DME. If you are off a tooth or 2 then that could be your problem. Be careful too far an you can smash a valve
