Thumbs down Headlight Issues

I recently removed my torn Headlight motor/relay boot. I failed to disconnect the battery.(Probaly the begining of my problem) I disconnected the relay and wire connection. I removed the boot. Reconnected the wires and relay... Now my lights do function properly, but will not go down. I tested the motor, it cycles properly. I replaced the relay with a new one. Still the same outcome. The lights will go down manualy, this just isn't a cool look. Popping the hood to lower my lights. Any ideas?

Might also be your switch, if you have a spare swap that in to rule it out.

with the battery connected and lights closed, when you start to raise the lights manually, do they cycle up and then close themselves automatically?

if you test this, be careful... lots of quick moving parts around..

and count your fingers when you're done.

Electrical issues are a hands on fix. Pelican has the early 944 wiring diagrams and the headlight circuit is pretty much the same for the later 944's.

They do not cycle up and then close automatically... Should they?

Sorry if hijacking this thread, but this is the exact symptom I have. My lights don't go up, but lights come on. Once I start turning the lights up manually(with the lights on) they pop up and go back down(only the one cycle). Any ideas what could be the problem. I have replaced the headlight motor relay and the switch in the dash.

yes, avachon, they should cycle as I said..

Eric, if they cycle by spinning it manually, and you've changed the relay and the switch.. I'd check the switch again, then the wires behind the switch, as well as the wires to the headlight motor..

something else you can try.. flip the switch in the on position, then give the lights/motor/actuator arm a little tap... it might be binding on something.

When something similar happened to me (lights came on, did not "pop" up, but cycled when manipulated) it boiled down to the linkage hanging up on the hood cable release on the left side of the engine compartment. My daughter thought she had broken the car (it was the first time I let her drive it); just got a cable tie and moved the release cable out of the way.

Hope it is as simple....
