front right locks up on braking!

On hard braking my front pass. side wheel locks up and slides, it's always the same wheel and it seems to lock up way before the other three. Any thoughts?

caliper is sticking would be my first thought, maybe time for a rebuild.

Take the caliper off the car, clean it up real good, and use a little grease where the caliper slides back and forth on the bracket. Don't get too crazy with grease, you don't want it on your brakes. It may be getting dirty and maybe a little rusty in there. If that does not work then rebuild or replace the caliper.

Be sure to consider that the *other* caliper might not be working, causing that one corner to do all the work...

I think all the others are ok, I can lock up all four corners if I try. I was thinking maybe a brake system bleed, the caliper doesn't seem to be sticking, it releases as soon as i let up on the pedal a little

Hi, it could be the rubber line going to the caliper

I'm sure you have already checked, but the tire on that corner could possibly be bald and the other 3 not bald... ?

How black is your brake fluid in the resivour?

Tires seem alike, the rears are actually a bit more worn than the fronts, I don't think it's the strut, their is no bouncing or steering probs. the fluid is black, should i replace it all?

Yes, replace the black broken down fluid with fresh dot 3 brake fluid.

Measure the thickness of the rotors. The wife (girl friend at time) had a old Honda, I replaced the pads on the front. Took me hours to figure out why the brakes were locking up. The rotors were thinner then the minimum thickness.

If you do grease it up consider using high temp brake caliper grease. Regular grease would be more likely to just melt and drip off quickly.

Good luck and let us know if/how you solve it.

no, the '87S & '88S do not have the turbo body work, Only from the '89S2 and onward, here's a pic of a '91 S2 cab, and a pic of an '89 S2 in front of an '88S and an '87 non S, also the turbo models from '86 on all had the bumper of which you speak
