Oil dipstick bolt.

What is the trick to loosening and tightening it? I've had very much trouble getting at it with common wrenches & tools.

Guessing on a 951...10mm with built in wobble and decent size extension. That bolt is a real pain. Slot the bracket on the dip stick to make life easier.

I use a pivoting gearwrench. Getting it started is the only hard part.

yeah this is a total pain for some reason and the slight tension of the bracket and stick holder against the bolt in my experience causes the bolts to ping off and drop down the side of the engine on the ground!!

Not that I really wanted to revive this old thread, but OMG! I've had this intake off countless times, and yes it was always a little tricky to get the dipstick bolt back in. I've always won the little battle. Today I had to give up, and cry uncle. I zip tied the thing. I'll be slotting it next time.

Piece of cake! I use 1/4" drive with 5" extension and 10mm socket with built-in wobble.
Put the bolt into the socket 1st, then hold it all together with a magnet-on-a-stick and use that to keep the bolt in the socket and guide the whole thing home. The whole thing takes 10-15 seconds max. I can make a video if you want to see.

I find it much easier to attach the dipstick tube to the manifold before putting it back on the car (the dipstick tube just pulls out). Leave the dipstick-manifold bolt slightly loose and then just tighten it after putting the manifold/dipstick assembly back in the engine. Just be careful not to damage the o-ring on the dipstick when you slide it back into the sump. (Since I once cut one, I actually keep a couple of spare o-rings around, they're cheep, just in case.)

Does anyone have a length or part number for this M6 bolt? The car I recently purchased is missing this bolt, so I had a little anxious moment when I pulled the whole tube out a few hundred miles from home.
