different lug nuts?
Has any one tried different lug nuts on the Phone Dial 944 wheels? My wife's car is a VW Passat and it had black plastic covers over steel lug nuts, has any one tried to fit some thing like this? I tried re painting the stock aluminum lug nuts black but they are chipping/flacking again plus they show signs where they are starting to round the edges.
I think this would give us the look of the stock black aluminum, the strength of steel, with out showing the age of the original lug nuts and just pop off the plastic covers for racing. |

Why not just pick up some black caps and place them over the lugs that you are currently running? Other option is to use black anodized lugs.

928 lugs were steel with anodized covers. There would be no ill effect except the possibility of loosing one at high speeds which you addressed. I replaced my 928 set with unpainted aluminium. Looks pretty good with a set of twists and silver lugs. Feel free to customize a little here.
