Found that the oil pressure warning wire was loose at the sender. The tiney threaded brass stud had broken. Soldered the connector directly to where the dud used to be! Took a bug soldering iron and some Yoga. Next time I will put it up on ramps first.

Auto correct is killing me. It was definitely a stud and a big soldering iron.

glad you clarified that Tom. For a moment I thought I was going to have to do some research on some terms I havent heard before. I was pretty sure Clarks Garage never mentioned soldering bugs to studs

Thanks, I need to get them rebalanced, and I'll take more pictures. The VHT paint was real easy to work with btw.

I was considering re-painting mine satin black, but I'm going to see how the polished aluminum looks first after stripping the red off. Whenever I get to that. Life is just too busy...

Very nice! I've been thinking of doing something similar.

Can you outline the process required? What sort of prep is required, etc.? Thank you for anything you can pass along!

Cost was $28 for three cans of VHT satin black wheel paint, and a Bondo spray paint gun. Three cans worked, but four would have probably been better. Paint was bought from Autozone.

Prep: Removed wheel weights, and used 3m adhesive remover to remove the sticky stuff left from the wheel weights, and wheel weights past. Used Simple Green, and a red scotch bright pad to clean the rims. Left to dry over night.

Paint: Gave rims a quick wipe down with alcohol. Taped valve stem cap, and tires best I could. No primer, two light coats, and one medium coat, all 10min apart.

VHT has really good instructions on the can. Here's a pic of the can:

Why no VHT primer?

VHT says primer is not needed, unless you're painting over bare metal. We'll see how it holds up, but either way, I just wanted to see how satin black looks vs the oem silver because I plan on having the rims refinished soon anyways.

They look great. I am thinking of repainting mine the original color. Currently the silver is wearing off and they are looking slightly gold!

I got mine from KLA, and it comes zinc coated to match the other zinc coatings under the hood. Never seen one powder coated.

^ The wheels look great! I'm thinking either satin black or a smoked chrome for mine.

Thanks! Either way you can't go wrong. It's easier to do a flat or satin black if you don't want to dismount the tires. Just something else to think about. Once you go black, you'll never go back....hahaha
