I assembled the dash and, low and behold, everything appears to be working. In fact, the car ran great last night!

When you turn your key do all the dash lights flash on? Mine don't.

i installed my new stereo and it works great but now the dash lights don't work. Which wire did I miss? The guy who unstalled the previous headunit made an absolute mess of everything. It took me longer to figure out what he did than to install the new unit.

I don't think I would have the Anti-lock brakes(ABS). I know my brake fluid indicator works because it was on for a while before I changed the fluid. When I turn the key I only get the main light at top, plus the seatbelt light. Never seen the brake pad light or engine oil. I wonder why my brake pad light doesn't come on because my front left sensor somehow came out and I couldn't get it back in, so it's just sitting next to the pad. No light though?

You also will not have the "engine oil" light. I think that was a 87+ thing.

I have to see what lights come on with key turned but...
My older series may not help you and we got about 6 inches of snow tonight and I have to do some cleaning up later this morning.

I don't remember if my 83 had lights flash or not, is it possible for the light on the gauge to die? I remember the owner's manual talking about all the lights coming on, as a test I'm sure.

As with my other thread:

Today, took out my centre console. its got a butt ugly cutout for an aftermarket A/C system switch which has bugged me for ages.

here's the old 944 one (left) and 968 one side by side.

Swapped some bits around and made a complete one. had to use a 968 switch which adjusts the fog light level until I can get a switch blank that fits.

next was the HVAC controls. the plastic around the screw holes is brittle and falling to pieces. I'm also looking at swapping in the 968's factory A/C system anyway so in went the 968's one.

old; both; new

Also note if you compare the first pic to the one above, I swapped my hazard light switch to a red 968 one. The old one is hard to see when you want it in a hurry.

Next was seats. I had a pair of good 944 turbo seats from the 968. Was ready to fit them when i realised the seat belt receivers weren't mounted properly. They'll need machining to fix so i decided to refit my original ones. Damn things have 6 x 6mm hex bolts each so I got rained out halfway through and will have to do the pax seat tomorrow. (I recall my 932 having 4 x 10 mm bolts each)

Should I fit these 968 door cards? One side needs fixing up and the 10 speaker system was kept by the PO but I've been slowly collecting the pieces to redo it.

And these are the check lights on my '86 on start up.

I'll take a nighttime photo. Looks like I'm missing two or more lights. I plan on cleaning the grounds and electrical connections back there whenever I get around to fixing the odometer. Maybe that will magically fix things

Bled brakes/clutch and removed the bumper pads in preparation for filling the holes, shaving the front bumper nipples off and then repainting. One of the bolts holding front bumper in place will NOT move, so gotta figure out how the hell I'm gonna get that off.
