Fixed a bunch of nagging neglected issues

Pulled the instrument cluster and cleaned all the connections. Odometer has been stopping for unknown reasons and the other gauges were lazy or not accurate. Fixed the rear windshield wiper. Fixed the HVAC control unit. Replaced the rear hatch lamp. Fixed the rear defrost. Tested this morning and everything working. Woo hoo! Hammer down!

According to Ground Control that's how they're supposed to be. They won't fit if I try to mount them the other way.

After replacing various o-rings, hoses and clamps I put the intake manifold back on this evening. What a pain that was, not difficult but there must be a technique/order to putting the hoses on, the lower bolt on and the 8 intake bolts on that I don't know. I just covered the ports in a piece of card while I frigged with various hoses then carefully put the gaskets on and torqued it up. At some point in the middle of which I repeatedly dropped the bottom bolt whilst trying to get in in and all aligned.

Just waiting for my injectors to return from Witchhunter now. Hopefully will run better since I found at least one of the intake gaskets has signs of leakage. Probably more ove a problem than the leaky hoses.

Here are pictures with the original steering wheel and the replacement one:

The steering wheel is of

The new one is in place.

Took a ride - the new one is much more handy.

Thanks. I like it too. As it is not the original clubsport, but Atiwe, I might re-do it with burgundy leather to match the rest of the interior. I have another same design Atiwe wheel in 320 mm diameter (the one in the pictures above as well as the original clubsport wheels are 360 mm) that might be more suitable for a track.

(Re-) Did the first half of of the water pump job. Previous attempt resulted in a leaking gasket, presumably due to insufficient cleaning. Took 2.5ish hours to get to the WP, then I spent 3 hours (on and off) with gasket cleaner and a rag. Finished up with acetone, brake cleaner, wet sand w/ 600 grit and WD-40, then more brake cleaner. Both surfaces are now silky smooth to the touch.

Everything gets Hylomar before torque tomorrow. I don't intend to do this job again.

I probably won't be driving till next weekend. I broke a radiator drain plug off in the radiator, so I'll be waiting for a few new ones to come in. Noticed the rear cam tower gasket leaking while I was pulling plugs, so that'll be done too. More Hylomar there, because it's my favorite new hammer.

Received my fuel injectors back from WitchHunter this week and reinstalled them. Was not sure about the clips and got some great help from the people here.

Had pulled the intake to replace various hoses, clamps and seals. As you can see one of the intake gaskets had been leaking too.

Car runs much smoother now, no shudder, idles higher and has much more power. I have to down shift less to overtake.

This is high on my list of "things to do next" (with the lindsey silicon vacuum hoses while I'm in there). About how long would you guess for the whole job (including intake gaskets)?

Probably took a couple of hours to pull it all apart. The injectors were stuck so I had to carefully use a pry bar on the rail. Took 8 days to get the injectors back. I cleaned the ICV and replaced the 3 main larger vacuum hoses. I think that this is more important than the small hoses. Probably took about an hour and a half to put it all back together. Getting the hoses under the manifold hooked back up is fiddly.

I forgot to mention the huge amount of time that it took to remove the old gaskets! Add an hour for that. I pulled the injectors and spent the week it took to get them back sorting everything out.

Pulled and cleaned the cover for and replaced the rear camshaft gasket. A good hypothesis for the reason it leaks could be that, where there should be three, there are only two bolts (top two). Neither had the PET-specified lock washer, so those have been installed. Locally sourcing an M6x22 bolt is proving difficult, so I may be cutting down a 25mm bolt to fit.

Some scuffs on the bolster. The leather is not damaged, just scuffed.

Uploaded short phone video with the custom 3 inch exhaust that I installed 6 weeks ago. To hear how it sounds in person (at least on my laptop) you have to put on headphones and turn on the volume. Next springs I will try to make short acceleration video as the sound is pretty good for a 4 cylinder engined car, especially above 3500 rpm.

What size and off-set do they have? Is it late one?
