Where Are My Reverse Lights?

I feel kind of dumb asking this, but where are the reverse lights on my 1990 964 C4 Cab?? I have license plate lights that work, but see nothing when I back up. I don't even see a place for them? Are they red?? They need to be clear where I'm from, but perhaps not in the US where I am now? If they are indeed red, they don't really provide any light backing up or give much of an indication to others I'm in reverse.

Hmmm...

Wrong forum, but I think they are either in the same spot as on the earlier (pre-89) taillights, if not, they're in the center reflector. I think they're in the side units though (not the reflector).

All U.S. 964's came with red 'look' taillights. However, turnsignals still illuminate orange, and reverse as white. Porsche did a similar thing with the 968.

I think the difference is that for the RoW cars, the lights not only needed to shine orange/red/white, but also look the same respective color when not illuminated.

Take care!

Okay well I must have a fuse blown or something because I can't get anything to turn on.

Check the reverse switch and it's connector. That's what it was on my car and it's on the tranny somewhere. Pull the wire connectors off and do an ohms check on the switch while the car's in reverse. Takes all of five minutes. If it's making contact, then check to see if there's 12 volts at one of the wires. If not then you've got an issue on the battery side. If you do then you've probably got bulb or ground problems at the sockets.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.
