It helps to remove the nose panel to put the top fitting on, but not necessary. Just less working room. If you remove the bumper you can see how it slides into place.

I ask because my nose panel is pretty much non-removable... not sure what happened or if maybe it's somehow accident related... but when I removed it once, all the bolts and everything were off and it wasn't budging, I ended up pulling REALLY hard and it came off halfway and ended up scraping off paint on the edges of the fenders... and was an extreme pain to get it back on and had to pry metal into place and what not..

Your car is an 83, the nose panel is welded in place from the factory lol...there are about 30 spot welds on the underside of the panel that you have to drill out to remove the panel.

Hmm, thought I read yours as an 83, oh well. Check under the headlight rubbers if there are any small nuts holding the panel on still...the front structure is a PITA sometimes.

US shipped cost is $275, I would estimate another $50 max for shipping to the island, so $325?

A better picture of the condenser installed on the car...you can see how the hose ends must be changed.

For anyone else potentially interested in one of these condensers, I am gathering parts to do 3 at once so building one for you would be easy for me...PM me.

Sam's club has cases of R134a (12-12oz cans) for $55, and 30lb cylinders for $80. Buy now before it gets hot! Parallel flow condensers are far superior to the old tube and fin and serpentine micro tube condensers.

The difference is surface area. With a larger surface area, the refrigerant will have a greater delta T when discharged from the condenser, thus creating more efficient operation and lower temperatures.

What kind of vent temps are you seeing after converting to R134a and changing the condenser?

I wish it were so cheap out here. You can't go to a store and buy three cans of R134a for $60. CA charges a deposit of $10 per can, only refundable when you return the empty can...base price is about $15/12oz...

When I first installed this condenser on my car a few years ago, in a Southern California July, I was measuring 28* coming out of the vents with an IR thermometer gun, idling in my driveway.
