glass water stains

Does anyone know how to get rid of water stains off the windows? I've got some serious water stains on my passenger window and rear deck glass. A bunch of timy dots, looks like rain or something. I've tried 409, Invisble Glass cleaner even a razor blade and none of them worked.

When I had old paint overspray on the windows from the previous owner, I used carb cleaner sprayed on a rag, and then windex, it wiped right off.

I saw this company's products on one of the Saturday morning car shows on Speed several years ago. I tried it before a big car show and was impressed with it's effectiveness. I am generally not really a Concours person but Porsche was the featured marque and I had nagged others into participating so I had no way out.

Well if nothing else works I may give it a try. Btw would you happen to know where I can get that logo decal on the rear bumper? Mine is completely gone

And do you think that stuff would work on my rear wing? Its looking like crap, faded and crackly looking.

Decal is available right here from Pelican Parts

For the rear wing/spoiler I've tried both Back to Black and the inexpensive Vaseline treatment. Both work well although my impression was the vaseline seemed to last longer but took a bit more effort wiping it off. YMMV I wouldn't use glass cleaner for the wing.

Oh, the test for clean glass? Put a plastic baggie on your hand and run it over the glass, you'll feel the dirt you don't see. After using the Diamondite product totally smooth. Hvae you tried claying the glass?

Yes toothpaste seriously. It is mildly abrasive. Used it on an old square back I restored. Plus it leaves your car minty fresh

I was at an auto glass repair shop and noticed a product for hard water stains, although I can't remember the name. Maybe there is a shop locally you can check.

Well I tried the carb cleaner and that didn't work. I even tried Goof Off and nothing. I will try the toothpaste trick in the morning, who doesn't want a minty fresh car?

I used a tire cleaner on my rear wing and that helped a lot, especially getting all that dirt off but eventually I will need a new one because its pitted with small holes.

Thanks for all the replies and advice!

This is not the first time I have had someone say toothpaste, I will give it a try when I have some time.

Vinegar will dissolve hard water deposits - just keep it off your paint and rinse afterward. It is really just a mild acid that dissolves the calcium deposits left when the water evaporates.

the best method is to use "0000" super fine steel wool..it's amazing..then give a nice coat of rain-x..does not leave any scratches and you'll be amazed that you didn't do this before...hardly takes any pressure going over it and your glass will be "smooth as glass"..done this to all my cars and the super fine steel wool..(0000)-grade is about $5...warning..do not use anything but "0000"super fine steel wool pads---haven't ever used anything else ...also takes off paint overspray and bird sap and any other crap that's on glass

Can you give more information on how to use the steel wool. Circular motion, like waxing a car? It will not scratch?
