those little things

I'm looking to find out what can be done to not only make your engine bay visually appealing but either make things perform better in either function or form.

For example I have red performance leads and a k/n panel filter and I'm looking to replace vacuum lines with shiney red ones.

Cheers

a new overflow tank does a lot to freshen up the engine bay.

replace worn and torn stickers and labels. there was a new style windscreen washer bottle for the '88 cars that looks good. you can chose to delete your headlight washers at the same time.

Im going a step further in that regard and will go to a 968 style washer bottle setup.

and I want to go to 968 hinges and struts

I dont have one but in 968's they have a plastic cover that hides a lot of wires, cables and hoses between the engine and the firewall. im interested to see if one of these fits too.

I went with the black silicone vacuum lines.
Rennbay's stainless exhaust studs and copper plated nuts are really nice.
Unfortunately they are now hidden by the heatsheild I made.

Volhv... nice work. I like how you have painted the check valves or whatever they are called also, the head shield is a very good idea I may look at doing this.

As for the wire brush n brasso, this needs explaining as I'm not sure what is meant.

Has any one got any billet parts. Or had things anodized. I'm looking at changing all the pulleys and maybe the cam sprocket to billet.

One little investment I made while restoring my '44 was a DIY Zinc electroplating kit. It has proved to be a real asset, as the nuts, bolt, fittings and brackets all over the car can be re-finished to a high standard and can almost look new. However, once you start - you do get bitten by the plating bug...and you find yourself looking for things to plate. I have done most of the rear suspension fittings and they look great. Under the bonnet I have done the cam cover fittings, various throttle cable brackets, the engine lift brackets, the nuts and large washers on the strut towers, the bonnet (hood) catch and receiver as well as the little light over the fusebox...to name a few. Not finished in there though!

Here are a few examples..

Hope that inspires?

I got my kit from eBay here in the UK, however, I would think that you should be able to source something down in NZ. You are right about the shipping costs, they would be high + the materials are classified as hazardous so best to get in country. Setting up the electrolyte tank solution is a bit of a task, but when it is all done it works really well (takes about an hour or so...) my kit uses a battery charger as a power source and using it is very straighforward. The longest part of the process (as always) is cleaning and preparing the parts for plating. I am sure you can get all the info you require by having a browse around the web. Good luck!

Refacing the PORSCHE lettering on the cam housing nice and clean and sharp and then polishing really makes a difference. I did mine the miserable, boring way by hand with a file, but it was worth it.
