My 924S engine get louder as it gets warmer. I have had this car for five years so I know these engines have a bit of a whine to them. But when the car is idling, it is loud. When revving the engine it almost sounds like the car is running a blower!
The belts are all new, including the cam and balance shaft belt and rollers. Water pump appears to be operating smoothly, there is no belt no slipping on the alternator. Do you think the balance shaft bearings could be making the noise? |

Off top of my head: BS belt too tight. BS idler clearance too small. The belt shouldn't run on the idler all the time. Twist method on BS belt is almost 180 degrees, and you should end up with enough slack so the belt can just barely touch the WP pulley when you deflect it.

Balance twist is more like 270. . .quite loose. If it is slapping the water pump, you have rotated the tensioner the wrong way, BTDT.
Did your mechanic use the proper tensioning tool?
