Porsche Crest porsche 944 problems

My '83 944 has had a number of electrical problems. As of today the car quit running, couldn't start it, tried to just push it and drop the clutch, still would not start. When the key is in the ignition there is an obnoxious buzzing coming from the fuse box. Not to sure what to do. I know there is a relay with a buzzer under there, but I am not to sure of it's purpose....anyone had this problem before?

I'd first off recommend checking the battery for proper charge, under load. If in doubt, have one of the auto parts stores check it for proper charge. Second, check the ground on the top of the bell housing and also the battery terminals. Next, the DME relay would be suspect and are cheap on line. Also check for a minor tach bounce when trying to start the engine. That might lead you to a bad ref sensor. You may also have a defective ignition switch. Good luck and let us know how you've progressed.

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Try placing your finger on each of the relays as you listen for the buzz. You'll feel the bad one vibrate. Then pull it and see what happens. It may be the DME relay...
