Question Exhaust header hardware question

[I'm moving this from the 951 forum to this one for maybe a little better exposure]

Greetings,

I feel kind of foolish asking this but...

Whenever I have the exhaust headers off ('87 951) I always replace all the hardware (studs/washers/nuts/bolts) - mainly because I am always hoping that I won't have to do it again any time soon. Anyway, out of pure laziness, I've always just ordered the required fasteners by their Porsche part number form Pelican... but they are getting, what seems to me, overly expensive ($4.50/washer for example). So my question: Do these fasteners need to be somehow special? Do I really need fasteners straight from Porsche for this? I know that they get really, really hot between the head and the turbocharger on the 951 and I don't mind paying for the studs, but $4.50/washer for the header->manifold flange is kind-of pushing it. If not then what do I actually need?

Thanks.

the exhaust hardware is "special". it is one-use hardware, due to the locking nature of the thread cut on the nuts. the washers are also harder than normal washers, so they don't compress.

i am not a fan of stainless exhaust hardware. it gets brittle over time.

it is a pain to have to order what looks like basic hardware, but using other stuff presents issues, like having to continually retorque things and things snapping.

you can order the hardware (fasteners) from belmetric.com
they are the supplier of all the fasteners for my shops and offer very high quality products at very good prices .
the European exhaust nuts are .43 cents each and are of the same look , style and quality of the same ones sold by Porsche them selfs .

Thanks for the suggestions (and I'm still following this thread so other suggestions are more than welcome too). I'll look in to them tonight. What really got me started on this is that to replace the fasteners at both ends of a 951's exhaust headers (8 studs, nuts, and washers at the head and 6 bolts, nuts and washers at the flanges) using Porsche part numbers comes to $188.50. Which just seems like kind-of a lot.
