Porsche Crest I'm one of the youngest here

well, I miss my car. Haven't seen it in about 7 weeks (paint job). I figured I'd post something to help with the with-draws. I got my license today. yeah, that's right, I joined pelican parts about 3 months after I turned 15. I hit 16 1/2 like a week ago and got a 97 today, the testing guy was in a bad mood. Well, now that I have my license I need my car. 7 weeks is a long time, I might go see it today. My uncle is painting it at his shop and is not making me pay for labor. I can't wait, the open road, in my '83 arctic silver 944. So, what's going on with you all?

Sounds like me a couple years back. I got my 944 when I was 16. I was so excited. I drove it for a year and quickly realized I needed more power. I was going to buy a 951, but sadly things didn't work out and so I was left with no 944. I've been in that same situation for a while now. I've got a 2000 Jetta GLS turbo, and that car is fast and all, but I am just biding my time until I can get another 944 (this time as a second car, not a daily driver.) Anyway, congrats on the license.

lol...ok......but anyway, I went to go see the car today, it wouldn't start something's wrong with the ignition. So we put in a temporary start-button. Here are some pics, the hood and fenders are sanded down, 5 coats of paint on them! So, my car has evidently been wrecked some before. But here's the PICS:

Join the club! I went in to have a $100 dent removed and found bondo over 20% of the car. $4000 later and I have all new sheet metal in several places.

Don't forget to post the before-and-after pics. I love to see freshly painted 44's!

I guess I'm another youngster. I got my 944 almost a year ago, when I was a 17 year old high school senior. I'll be 18 next month, and just started college. We don't live too far apart, we should meet up sometime after you finish the work on your car. Take it easy man, and congrats on getting your lisence.

BTW, I passed my lisence test w/ a 100

yea...youngun pride! I am 18...Graduated, and bought 83 944. I think i also joined the wrecked porsche club cause I think my whole body is bondo. I think i am gonna replace it with carbon fiber...hehe. Anyways, welcome..and good luck with your repairs....don't wreck it it and keep it shiny, for all the 944's out here. Also watch out for the suicidal rabbits...going 90 into em does wonders for the front air dam. 3 months later and just today found half of one wedged under there.

Ahh... to be 16 again...or 18...or 24... hell, I would settle to be 30 again.

Feeling rather ancient right now...

AFJuvat, the more you think about it the more you'll feel like it. Your physical features might age but you mind is what ever you make it out to be. My mother is 50 and she still acts like a friggin kid. Me? I'm 24 and thought about what it's going to be like when I'm 30,... and I did not like the feeling I got. The only thing you can do is enjoy life and not waiste anytime!!!!

Thats normal, raising a family drains you. You start feeling older because your constantly tired from working and taking care of your family. Just don't forget to enjoy yourself whenever you have any free time.

While I'm posting, Very worn 944, those rabbits didn't commit suicide you killed them. Slow down for animals, we are all here for a reason.

sorry..i didn't mean to sound so intentional. I was going too fast, and it ran out of the bushes right in front of me...one. I braked hard and tryed to swerve....but too late...I was very sad...don't get me wrong. sorry about sounding proud.

You think Rabbits are bad? In FL you get friggin turtles! Now, I've never hit one, but not too long ago I saw a car run over a turtle (ran over the shell with his tire) the little F'er flew, landed back on his stomach, popped his head out and ran (yes...ran!). It was funny, but at the same time it was very sad. I mean, apparently the turtle was ok, but I love animals and hate to see em get hit. We got a lot of possums and aardvarks too.

I wonder if your car or truck had big enough tires and caught a turtle just right,... you think you would hear a popping noise as the turtle's shell finally gives? That would be hideous!

It would indeed. I have seen many turtles who have been hit, it's gross. This guy got lucky though. He took it like a man! The problem is that move so slow across the road. People who are too busy on the cell phone, or something, don't notice them. And they turtles go into hide mode when they see, or hear something that big coming. So they sorta screw themselves, poor little guys.

Red face Frogs!

Turtles!?! We get them here once in a while... But lately we've been getting FROGS. Poor little buggers are all on the raods at night (no doubt because they are warmer than the surrounding grasses in fall) just hopping around all happy and then... *splorch!* It's really hard to avoid ALL of them, but the fogs help to light them up I guess. I wonder what they think we are when we roar up on them in the darK?
