Wiring problem
My 83 944 left me stranded the other night. After reading through some of the forums, I decided to replace the DME/Fuel pump relay. When I put the new relay in, it did not fix the problem. The car would start and run fine for about 10 seconds and the shut down. It felt to me like the the relay wasn't seated all the way, so I pulled the fuse panel out and found that it wasn't completely in the socket. I seated it firmly. While looking at the wires on the back of the fuse panel, I found one wire that was not connected to the back of the fuse panel and am not sure where it hooks up. There are a couple of places that appear as if this wire would connect to, but want some expert advice. The wire in question is a black wire with a red stripe down the side. I don't want to randomly hook it up so I thought I would see if someone has wiring knowledge about this car and could help me.
It looks like it should hook up to the connector next to the heavy gauge red wire, but would prefer some advice before hooking it up and reconnecting the battery. Any help here would be appreciated. ![]()

I was looking at the wiring again today and noticed that the plastic covering over the connector has the number 11 on it also. Car will start and run for about 10 seconds and then shuts off

Another thing to mention is that prior to the car finally leaving me stranded was occasionally while diving, the car would experience a a misfire.

Hi guys, I need some help. This is my first post on the forums,
Name's Josh, I'm 20 and have no electrical experience. I'm restoring a 87 924S as a first car, bought it from my grandfather; who left it outside since 1990 so now I'm putting in as many new parts as possible to ensure everything works the way it should, new fuse box, fuel pump, etc. I just replaced the fuse box under the dash and after wiring all back up, I went to check all the electronics to make sure the wiring was correct. Everything was good except the Headlights, Turn signals wouldn't come on and the power windows were not working but the hazard lights and Hi-Beams worked. Granted there was a buzzing from the relays/fuse panel. When the old fuse box was in everything worked. I put the new fuse box in because I've been having trouble getting it to start (turns out fuel pump was dead after bench-testing it), and I wanted to redo the wiring on the fuse panel anyway (it was a nightmare). If anyone has info or if someone could post pictures of their fuse panel wiring I would appreciate it. Thanks |
