new dme relay confusion
thought I was burning dme relays. However.just bought a new one today. The new one didn't fix the issue. The jumpered relay continues to work...what does this mean is failing?

Sounds like you are not getting the signal from the DME to activate the relay. That is quite odd because usually if there is no DME signal there is no spark either. I'd start by checking the wiring diagrams and look for the signal from the dme that activates the dme relay and make sure it is present.

Hopefully this added info may help you troubleshooting gurus in helping an amateur Porsche lovin fool in troubleshooting my issue. Right around the time my dme relay began to fail and I needed to resort to using a "jumpered" relay with two brand new relays not working, I noticed my fuel gauge reading lower than normal/expected, fuel gauge needle bouncing intermittently and a drop of 1/8 to 1/4 tank in fuel reading at times.. Hopefully this info can help you gentleman guide me in the direction of figuring this out. Any help or advice is appreciated!

Did you test the socket?
According to the diagram on Clark's Garage if you use a voltmeter or test light to check the socket where the relay plugs in (the female socket) unless I'm mistaken with the ignition on you should find #85 & #85b are grounds through the DME and #86 should be full battery voltage +12VDC (nominal voltage) from the ignition switch. If it were me I would test #86 first as the most likely suspect.
With the ignition off #86 should have no voltage. What do you get when you test the socket? (be careful). #30 should have battery +12 volts at all times (ignition on or off) but since your jumper works then #30 must be hot. Do you see corrosion in socket #86? A spritz of electronic contact cleaner won't perform miracles but may not hurt. Is corrosion an issue with your car?

Thank you gentlemen.i will do that and get back to... No not much corrosion.hqve cleaned most all grounds thoroughly as well.
